In 1973, the inaugural men's tennis tournament saw the remarkable triumph of the legendary Rod Laver, who emerged victorious in both the singles and doubles events alongside his partner Colin Dibley.
 
Since 2002, there has been an absence of any men's tournament. However, the ATP made a noteworthy declaration in June 2023. They revealed that a new ATP 250 tournament will take place in January 2024, and the chosen location for this event is Hong Kong.
